The Deming Prize was established in 1950 to commemorate the first lecture in Japan by Dr. W. E. Deming (New York University, USA) on statistical quality control. Tanabe Seiyaku was awarded the 1st Deming Prize as a company which excelled in the application of Dr. Deming’s statistical quality control under his guidance.
